Remembrance Day 2005

It always amazes me the number of people that do not acknowledge the 2-minute silence on this date every year; equally amazing is the number of young people who do not even know what the poppy represents or the purpose of the silence!

When did we stop teaching this in schools or talking to our grandparents or parents about our country's history????

Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemn
At the going down of the Sun,
and in the morning,
We will remember them

395,000 Lost their lives during the Second World War
719 Lost their lives during the Northern Ireland Troubles 1969 - Present
237 Lost their lives during the Falklands Conflict - 1982
45 Lost their lives during The Gulf War 1991
3 Lost their lives during Afghanistan
96 Lost their lives during Iraq 2003 - 2005
